Yeah, it should be no problem to use different versions -- the only real
requirement that I know of is Python 2.4 or later. Apart from that I
don't think we push any of the libraries that hard.

Luckily it is optional and unless you explicitly ask for it, VIFF should
just work without it -- that is, --no-ssl is the default if the OpenSSL
package cannot be imported.

I don't think I have tried with Python 2.6. I'm using Python 2.5 on my
home Debian machine and Python 2.4 at the university.
